The educational institution can not reach its goal without a proper library. Especially, in higher education, the library can not be ignored. Thus, we can find the importance of college libraries as it provides quality education to the institution on the basis of books stored in its library. Only infrastructure development is not enough for an educational institution. It is necessary to evaluate its inner quality. Therefore, having a college library in all the colleges is mandatory, which has a good number of books, journals, daily locals etc. Also it should have better reference books, related to the syllabi so that the students get benefitted in their need of time. It plays a vital role in making the future career of the students. As well, it gives a proper platform to the teachers in getting the overall information.

Libraries help the learners to reach their goal and gather knowledge independently. It creates self-dependence and self-help. Patharkandi college provides a central library in the name of "Professor Quomrul Hoque Central Library '' There is an average collection of essential books, journals, daily news papers etc. Our college library provides facilities like e-journals, e-books, databases and the like. Our library work is managed smoothly with the "Koha software". The library also has a free Wi-Fi facility. There are also Xerox facilities available in the library, students may use xerox as and when necessary. In our library, there is a reading room allotted for both the teaching staff and students. Our college library wants to fulfill the teaching -learning process providing necessary requirements. By means of institutional membership, the users may also access e-resources of N-LIST, INFLIBNET. Our college library is run by qualified staffs. They are skillful and laborious and always helpful to students and teachers. They motivate the students to read as many books as possible. The catalogue is updated and books have been listed accordingly author wise and subject wise.
In our college library, daily Bengali and English newspapers are available. Moreover,there are journals kept in the library. The reading room is populous throughout the day. It is a memorable experience to sit in the library for one or two hours and study the magazines and newspapers.
Most of the students may come to the library at any time in their extra time. The reading room is decorated with a central table and many chairs around it. Students may take books to study there. They may recommend reference books and dictionaries. It helps students to extend their knowledge and may gather a better understanding of the allotted subject.
Normally, library hours start at 9:00 am. Most of the students come here to study in a very healthy atmosphere. The books are issued to the students for 7 days. They can also extend the time through renewal. They can also bring books from home and study. It is not allowed to talk with each other loudly in the library. There is a special arrangement for teaching staff. Teachers come to the library in their free time and collect necessary materials. Three books may be issued at a time for a period of one month in the name of teachers.The principal of this college often comes to the library as a surprise visit to see and supervise that everything in the library is okay. Our college library is a big source of our knowledge, hope and inspiration. It widens our horizon of knowledge and thinking. We are proud of our college library.
