The Department of Political Science was established in 1990. Initially there were a few students in this subject, as the strength of the students was low in the college. During the first decade of 21st century, the numbers of student were vehemently increased with the induction of new incumbents in the department. Now the strength of the students in the subject has gone beyond 500. This perhaps is the most popular subject amongst students in the college. This department makes an effort to engage students in understanding the current political world, building an active citizen and democratic engagement. It provides students with a perspective to engage with the political, social, economic and cultural issues of the times.
