Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. It is the most basic and fundamental science. Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles. Moreover, it’s the basis of many other sciences, including chemistry, astronomy (and can be applied to biology or medical science). All are easily accessible with a bachelor’s degree in physics.
The Department of Physics at Patharkandi College was established in 2020 with the introduction of the Science Stream in the college. The Department currently has three highly active and enthusiastic faculty members committed to train students to become competent and motivated physicists. The members are also devoted to deliver high quality research standards in pure and applied areas of physics. Their research interests cover broad range of physics: Astronomy & Astrophysics, Electronics & Photonics and Nano Science.
The Department of Physics currently offers three-year B.Sc. courses (under CBCS curriculum). The Department is also equipped with standard B.Sc. level laboratory and a computer lab.
