Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Patharkandi College was set up first time in the year 2017. However, due to lack of manpower and goal-oriented inspiration, the activities were not successfully implemented. After introduction of science stream, with restructured IQAC, the workstream started to build a quality-oriented journey. Initially, the purpose of the IQAC was to build up a structure for conscious, steady, and catalytic development in the overall performance of the college. However, now IQAC is ready to make a significant contribution in the pre-accreditation phase of institutions and taking oath to maneuver the efforts and measures of the institution towards academic excellence for the post-accreditation period.
The main aim of IQAC is to plan and execute quality initiatives and appraise the same. It also appreciates, encourages, and provides support required by all staff for their quality sustenance and enhancement in teaching, research and administration.
If necessary, IQAC will constitute committees for smooth functioning of academic, administrative, and financial activities. It will coordinate with all stakeholders at various levels; through informal interaction, official meetings, feedback system, etc. IQAC undertakes academic and administrative auditing by internal committees. It will also assist in the process to analyze the feedback received from all stakeholders and informs the person concerned about its outcome for improvement.

‘Imparting quality education to all sections of society’
A day would come when the darkness of this remote area would be allayed by the golden light of education. With this enthusiastic expectation, our college was established in the year 1990. Being situated on the foothills of Rajbari, Patharkandi near Indo-Bangladesh Border, the College has been playing a significant role in the field of Higher Education in this outlying region for the last two and a half decades. The students of this college come from very diverse social backgrounds. The majority of students of this college belong to remote, rural villages and Tea Garden located in the surrounding area. It is ingrained in the mission of the organisation to provide aspirants with access to higher education irrespective of their social status. Since the college's founding, it has been dedicated to fulfilling its mission of bringing enlightenment to the people living in rural areas through the promotion of academic progress and the inculcation of the humble attitudes and value-based education that are necessary for the students' holistic development.
The distinctiveness lies in its being an institute that has the prime focus of imparting quality education to all sections of society. The College has a tradition of visiting villages and rural outlying areas to persuade parents of the value of a child's education and to encourage them to pursue higher education as most of them belong to backward poor community viz, Tea tribes, Minority, etc. The success of this effort is reflected from number of students enrolled in this institution at present. This college has always adhered to its well-planned administrative measures for the upliftment of the underprivileged section of the backward society by proving them opportunities to avail different scholarship schemes by the Government. As per the Government policy, reservation of admission seats for SC, ST, OBC and physically challenged (PC) students is followed. The college has never compromised its academic responsibilities. This college's teaching staffs have been working diligently to impart their knowledge to students at the best irrespective of religion, caste, creed and gender. The students with average academic results completed their graduation with excellent grades. The college has been awarding certificates of excellence and gold medals to its top students as a way to inspire them to continue their education. The college awards certificate to student who has utilised maximum library hours. The college organizes crash course for competitive examinations. The College takes pride in reporting the learning outcomes of its students, as many have qualified in admission tests for various post-graduate programme at various universities across the State, as well as various competitive examinations such as Teachers' Eligibility Test (Assam), Bank Entrance Exam, NET, etc. In addition, it is a matter of pride to mention that one of our students, Purba Seal, from Bengali Department, secured Gold Medal (2020) under Assam University.
The college believes that apart from academic achievement, others aspects of education that is, social development, Physical development, Emotional development and Cultural development are all equally important for holistic development of a student. The students are exposed to the diverse social structure and their issues, particularly in the neighbouring areas, through the National Service Scheme (NSS), which is carried out at the Institute. The students participate in events that raise social awareness about women's health, woman’s safety, Swatch Bharat, Plantation, tobacco free campus, etc. While doing so, students develop a sense of social responsibility that is necessary to build a better citizen. Activities under NCC add another dimension to students’ social experience in the college. In the college, mental health of the student receives appropriate amount of attention. The college implemented Mentor-Mentee policy not only to give individual guidance to students in academics but also to give unwavering emotional support to them. The institute encourages students to engage in physical activities in order to improve their fitness, teamwork, self- esteem, ability to make sound decisions, mental toughness, etc. Every year, the institute organizes annual sports events for the students comprising of various sports such as cricket, volleyball, tug of war, kabaddi, football, etc. Both boys and girls participate in these sports and demonstrate their sportsmanship and team-building abilities. The college actively promotes the organisation of moral and cultural events such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Milad, etc that are necessary to develop a sense of respect towards different cultures.
The college takes the pride that it has showcased its superlative performance in its thrust area, that is, to make higher education accessible to all irrespective of religion, caste, creed and gender without compromising the quality of education. This has been resulted by the collective efforts of dynamic staff and able administrative machinery as well as by the support of extremely friendly and cooperative local community. Moreover, the people of this remote region started to believe that higher education is no longer an unwanted burden to the society. Due to restless struggle to materialise its dream, Patharkandi College has now evolved into an institution committed to developing the all-round potentials of its students swarming from diverse social backgrounds of this remote region of Karimganj district.
